PCSX2 & graphic glitch

I've hit a roadblock, not sure what else to do so I'm coming to yous.
I wanted to try and see how my PS2 discs run on my PC using PCSX2, which I heard was the tip top emulator to use.
I tried the official release from the site, 1.2, then tried a dev build of 1.3.
Both versions, with hours of poking around in the settings has me at a loss.
Here is the glitch I'm talking about.

I'm thinking there is a plugin I need to update, but I'm not sure.
I just used what was in the file I downloaded.
I tried using DX9, DX11 hardware.
The problem goes away with software selected, but I can't upscale the res to make it look crispy.
I tossed it on my laptop, where I took the pics, to see if it'd work on another system, on an NVIDIA chip (my PC is AMD).
I dunno... what do you guys suggest I do?
