When you use GPS on your Canon EOS 6D, you can enable an option that logs, or maps, the GPS coordinates of every place where you capture an image with your camera. You can download this information to your memory card and use it in conjunction with Canon’s Mapping Utility to create a map that shows the locations where you created photographs. To map your day with GPS:

Enable GPS.
Don’t leave the camera menu yet. There’s one more thing you have to do before you can log the GPS information.
Use the Multi-controller or the Quick Control Dial to highlight GPS Logger, and then press Set.
The GPS Logger menu appears.
Use the Multi-controller or the Quick Control Dial to highlight Enable, and then press Set.
The GPS Logger is enabled. When the GPS Logger is enabled, you see the LOG icon displayed on your LCD monitor and on your LCD panel.
Press the Shutter button halfway to return to picture taking mode and shoot up a storm.
When you’re done with your photo shoot, you need to transfer the GPS Log to your memory card.
Press Menu.
The last-used menu is displayed.
Use the Multi-controller to navigate to Camera Settings 3 tab, use the Multi-controller or the Quick Control Dial to highlight GPS Logger, and then press Set.
Now the GPS Logger can download log information, and also can delete data.
Use the Multi-controller or the Quick Control dial to highlight Transfer Data to Card, and then press Set.
The menu refreshes and a progress bar appears, showing you the download status. At this stage, you may be tempted to delete the log data, it’s always good to assume that the transfer failed, and keep the log on the card until you’re sure you’ve got it on your computer.
After the data has transferred to the card, power off the camera and remove the card.
You’re now ready to map your day.
After you remove the card from your camera, you use the Canon Map utility to create a map that uses the GPS log to show all the places where you took pictures. The Map utility is included with the software that shipped with your camera.
If you didn’t install the software, do so before attempting to use the GPS log information. You will need Internet access to install the Map utility.
Canon Data Import Utility Download Mac
To map the GPS log information, follow these steps:
Download the card to your computer using the ImageBrowser EX or your favorite image editing application.
When you use ImageBrowser EX to download the images, you’re prompted to download the GPS log information as well. If you use another application to download images, you’ll have to use the Windows Explorer or Macintosh Finder to locate the log file and download it to your computer. The log files you downloaded to the card are found in the GPS folder, which is a subfolder of the MISC folder. The log files have the .LOG extension.
Launch the Canon Map Utility.
On a Windows machine, you find the file on the All Programs part of the Start menu. Click Canon Utilities and then click the Map Utility icon.
On a Macintosh machine, go to the Canon Utilities folder, which is in the Applications folder.
In the Canon Utilities folder, you find a MapUtility folder. Click MapUtility.app to start the application.
Click the folder icon and then locate the images you want to map.
The images are imported. The position of each image is noted with a red dot.
Click an image in the Images tab to see a thumbnail of the image on the map.
You can also click a dot on the map to see the image that was photographed at that location.
Click the GPS Log Files tab.
Click the Import from File icon and then import the applicable log file.
If you use ImageBrowser EX to download your files and import your log files:
On a Windows machine, you find the log files in: Documents→Canon Utilities→GPS Log Files.
On a Macintosh machine, you find the log files in: Documents→Canon Utilities→GPS Log Files.
After you import the log file, your photo shoot is mapped out.

When you use the application to record multiple shoots, the log from each shoot is identified by the date the images were photographed appears in the GPS Log Files tab. When you click the icon for the log you want to review, it appears on the map.
